Take Part: The Cove
December 27, 2009 in Animal Rights by Darla Baker
The Secret is Out. Spread the Word.
The Cove exposes the slaughter of more than 20,000 dolphins and porpoises in Taiji, Japan every year, and how their meat, containing toxic levels of mercury, is being sold as food in Japan and other parts of Asia, often labeled as whale meat. The majority of the world is not aware this is happening as the Taiji cove is blocked off from the public. The focus of the Social Action Campaign for The Cove is to create worldwide awareness of this annual practice as well as the dangers of eating seafood contaminated with mercury and to pressure those in power to put an end to the slaughter.
I watched this Documentary yesterday. It is very disturbing.
I agree Darla…very disturbing…ok now lets get the word out. I had no idea that this has been going on…it broke my heart!
Yes it broke my heart as well. I've been a dolphin lover for many years. I used to draw dolphins as a child. I remember watching Flipper as a kid. The stories he told about working with the Flipper dolphins and the one that died in his arms was so sad.
This is disgusting and cruel. We need to have all of our animals to survive to keep the ecosystem in balance. These people need education on the consequences of their actions. And we are supposed to be the intelligent, caring, & feeling species on this planet. What does this show you?
That we are not.
Really good sharing this.
