How to Make Homemade Cough Drops – wikiHow

6:21 pm in Education, Gardening by Darla Baker

Whether it be the dead of winter or the high life of summer, colds and allergies seem to pop up out of nowhere and “catch” us completely off guard. Hand-in-hand with these seasonal terrors come the dreaded cough, which you can treat with store-bought cough drops, or make your own.

My grandmother used horehound for cough drops and I swear by them myself as well.  This recipe suggests several herbs, among them is horehound.  My friend Amanda picks up a bag of horehound candy for me whenever she runs across it.  You can usually find it at Bob Evans or Cracker Barrel.  It would be really fun to make it myself.  Perhaps I can convince Carol to purchase some horehound for our garden from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds?
