Alice takes the advice of her longtime friend and law office business partner, Miranda, and embarks on a three week vacation at Miranda's vacation home at Quinta do Lago in Algarve, Portugal.  She's hoping to be completely alone for the vacation.  But instead finds herself sharing the house with Miranda's daughter, Joy, who is 22 years her junior.

Joy is as open and free as Alice is closed and reserved.  Even if these two weren't facing a significant age gap, their personality clash would be a barrier to romance for the two of them.

Harper writes this book in the first person from Alice's point of view.  This choice allows us to experience her emotional journey first hand through the book as she works to reconcile her feelings for Joy against the age and gender issue as well as her fear of Miranda's response.

The story is well written.  It is not predictable, particularly where the relationship between Alice and Miranda are concerned.  I found myself unable to put the book down, needing to know how it all worked out.  That's always a "must have" for me to consider a book good.

I loved this book every bit as much as the many other books by Harper Bliss.  It doesn't replace At the Water's Edge as my favorite Harper Bliss novel though.  This book will appeal to anyone who loves a good lesbian romance and particularly those who love stories about previously straight women or Spring-Fall romances. (Sorry Harper, I can't go to "December" for Alice.)

Harper Bliss, I give you five stars for yet another beautifully written and entertaining lesbian romance.
