Stone Soup Community Press, Inc. 501(c)3 names Lindsey Danis as the 2019 Writing Fellowship Recipient
Lindsey Danis, winner of the 2019 Stone Soup Community Press Writing Fellowship
Dayton, Ohio – June 15, 2019 – Darla Baker, President and Executive Director of Stone Soup Community Press, Inc., along with the Writing Fellowship Selection Committee, names Lindsey Danis as the 2019 Writing Fellowship Recipient.
Applications for the 2019 Writing Fellowship were received from January 1 through May 1, 2019. The Fellowship includes a $3000 stipend, a publishing contract, and the opportunity to interact with other LGBTQ writers.
Baker comments, “the competition for this Fellowship was fierce. The selection committee narrowed the field down to three finalists, Brooke Winters, Chelsea Catherine, and Lindsey Danis. Choosing a winner was not easy.”
The final decision came down to the sub-genre of the submission. The selection committee felt that publishing a YA novel would best represent the spirit of the Fellowship and the mission of the organization. The team is looking forward to working with Lindsey on this project and watching her blossom as a writer.
Danis responded to the news, “I've often wondered…whether there's simply not much room in traditional publishing for LGBTQ voices. Winning the Fellowship…show[s] me that my voice and our stories matter. This fellowship will give me the boost I need to share untold LGBTQ narratives with our community and our allies since I believe we all benefit when marginalized voices are uplifted.”
Lindsey Danis is a Hudson Valley-based freelance writer whose publication credits include, most recently, Taproot, Craft Beer & Brewing, ROVA, and Verity La. When not writing Lindsey enjoys hiking, kayaking, cooking, and spending time with her wife and two pups.

Proceeds from Stone Soup Community Press, Inc. 501(c)3 programs support the Lambda Literary Foundation, the It Gets Better Project, The Trevor Project, and the Legacies of Lesbian Literature Project.
The publishing program directly supports talented authors, editors, cover artists, and vocal artists within the LGBTQ community through above-market royalty and rate contracts.
The writing fellowship additionally offers one talented writer each year an additional $3000 stipend to supplement the writer’s income throughout the writing and publishing process. This fellowship is open to all LGBTQ authors regardless of their current publishing status.
Therapy Café offers authors free access to a wide audience of potential readers to promote their works in a fun and engaging manner.
